Our Adoption Program

One of the Rome Floyd Humane Society's missions is to save as many potential pets as possible from euthanization at Animal Control. Although the Humane Society does not have a shelter of its own, we work closely with animal control to adopt animals from there.

Humane Society members foster animals for adoption. These pets have been rescued from Animal Control, surrendered to the Society, or came to us as strays. They have been in Society members' homes for at least 10 days, to ensure their health and ascertain each individual pet's temperment.

All are Veterinarian checked and current on all shots, spayed or neutered if old enough, and socialized. Many have had some obedience training and housetraining. If a pet is too young for spay/neuter, discount spay/neuter certificates for local veterinarians are available when you pay the adoption fee.

The adoption prices for these pets are $40.00 to $150 for a dog or puppy, $20 - $125 for cat or kitten. The adopters help offset the veterinarian bills for each particular animal, so that the Society can continue to bring these pets into our homes.

We feature foster pets on the Petfinder website. You can go to our organization page on Petfinder, or go directly to our foster pets on Petfinder. Pets with a name are RFHS foster animals. Animals with a serial number are property of Floyd County Animal Control and are featured only as a courtesy.
