Placing a Pet
Bulletin Boards
RFHS is not a shelter and does not accept pets for placement, but we do maintain a bulletin board for pets that the general public may visit. You can send us the information by phone, mail, or e-mail.
Keep in mind that placing an animal through these bulletin boards may take weeks or even months.
Animal Control
If you are considering surrendering a pet to Floyd County Animal Control, you should be aware that most animals left there are not adopted out, and because of the large number of abandoned and stray animals, those not adopted will be euthanized.
Rescue Groups
If your pet is a "half-breed" of something, visit www.spotsociety.org and click on the "Atlanta Rescue List" for an alphabetized listing of local purebred rescue groups.
Fliers
Making fliers on plain paper using a cute photo of your pet and posting them everywhere is a great way to place your pet. However, bear in mind that you'll need to screen prospective new parents. Listing a pet as "free" often means people who cannot afford to care for your pet will be interested.
